Soft Soil Specialist
We have built in unstable soil conditions for large-scale projects in Ottawa, and have the necessary experience and professionalism to get the job done.
Project: Nepean Sanitary Collector Sewer Line
Soil was unstable to excavate with an open cut trench system to install 30 inch dia. concrete pipe. Jim Suatac designed a tunnel boring machine especially will go through unstable soil, first time in the world history and have it built by Lovat under Jim’s supervision. The Tunnel Boring machine pushed into muddy soil and lined up inside with wood connected on H beam rings. Shown down on picture how it looks. Concrete pipes installed in the tunnel and filled the void with sand-light cement mixture. |

Project: Pipes Under Railroad Crossing
Again, for the first time in world history, Jim Suatac successfully jacked 96 inch diameter concrete pipes, through unstable soil, behind the tunnel boring machine, crossing the railroad on Woodroffe Ave. in Ottawa. Same tunnel boring machine used as shown above, enlarged the outside diameter. |
